Welcome to the Brixton Reel Film Festival ! This year’s festival is bigger and brighter than ever with spectacular, entertaining films and events in community venues and cinemas near you and its ALL FREE!

As ever this pioneering film festival prides itself of celebrating wellbeing and empowerment for local minority communities. This year we have dedicated events celebrating African-Caribbean, Asian, Portuguese and Latin American experience.

This is carefully mixed with great advice and information on how to get the best out of local services and a dynamic exploration of the 5 ways to mental wellbeing.

Kicking off the festival is the future of filmmaking with the World Premiere of an interactive movie called TryLife at the BFI Southbank on Saturday 25th October. This is followed at Brixton’s Mosaic Centre, with feel-good Asian film Hemalkasa and African Yoga. The Mar Azul Restaurant has authentic Portuguese food and shorts films. We welcome Latin America audiences to the Roxy Cinema, Southwark, with the preview screening of Yo soy de Chile (I am From Chile). Then we will be rocking the Ritzy, Brixton with the Preview of US movie Get On Up, the much-expected James Brown biopic.

Brixton Reel is supported by NHS Lambeth CCG, Southwark Council and Lewisham Council promoting positive mental health and well-being. For more information on local support services click the Help & Advice button at the top of the page.

We look forward to seeing you at the festival!
